Exploring Emotional Chakras #1-3
1st - Gifts of grounding, acceptance and survival
2nd - Gifts of sexuality, creativity and emotion
3rd - Gifts of power, commitment and will
The first three chakras are centers of emotion.
They are about our human-ness.
In order to feel balanced in this world, we must be 'grounded'.
In doing so the vortexes of the first three chakras must be open
and flowing in both directions.
Thoughts are electrical. Emotions are magnetic.
Grounding neutralizes the magnetic charge of emotions
and eliminates the electrical charge.
The 1st chakra is represented by the element of earth. Its name is Mudlahara. It pulls energy up from the earth (through the liberating current) towards the higher chakras. The 1st chakra is the foundation for the entire chakra system. Without a strong foundation, there cannot be a strong 'structure'. Since this chakra manages the legs and feet, bowels/anus, and the base of the spine, it connects us to the planet. It is where we say "yes" to life.
The 1st chakra represents Erik Erikson's stage of 'trust vs. mistrust'. It begins to develop while the fetus is still in the womb. All acts (physical, emotional and mental) of the mother in the last trimester of her pregnancy have an impact on the development of the 1st chakra of her child. Birth traumas impact this development as well. These include crises during the birthing process or immediately thereafter (undue separation from the mother), surgeries, accidents, abandonment (including adoption).
Truth of the 1st chakra: All is one.
The 2nd chakra is represented by the element of water. Its name is Svadhisthana (which means 'sweetness of life'). This chakra is the second in the liberating current (upward flow of earth energy) and second to the last in the manifesting current (downward flow of Divine energy). The energy of the 2nd chakra is located in the lower abdomen (below the navel) and is related to movement, emotions, sexuality, desire and pleasure. Since this chakra orients us to self-gratification, when we do not feel or have pleasure, we feel guilt.
The 2nd chakra represents Erik Erikson's stage of 'autonomy vs. self-doubt'. It begins to develop when a child can hold himself erect in a seated position (typically about 6 months of age). This posture aligns the 'potential' for energy to begin to flow upwards. As the child becomes more 'locomotive', the energies flow more freely. S/he learns how to move gracefully, how to find pleasure in growth/change, and where the boundaries are located. (This boundary development is succesful when the nurturing adult(s) provide safe, healthy boundaries - neither too strict nor too lenient. Traumas that affect the healthy development of this chakra include living in abusive environments (physical, alcohol/drugs, mental, emotional and sexual).
Truth of the 2nd chakra: Honor One Another.
The 3rd chakra is represented by the element of fire. Its name, Manipura, means 'lustrous gem'. This chakra task is self-definition (a healthy sense of self-esteem). When an individual feels confident in himself and feels personal power, the 'fire' within burns brightly. The third chakra is located in the solar plexus and involves organs in the digestive system, middle vertebrae, and nervous system. During healthy development, an individual learns how to act and be an individual - apart from the mother (an ultimately, the world). Without autonomy and a healthy ego, there is shame.
The 3rd chakra development begins at about 18 months (overlappping the development of the second chakra development) and continues through age 4. Risk-taking is extremely important during this time. If parenting is authoritarian or enmeshed, the development of a responsible, reliable and balanced will is compromised. Low self-esteem is responsible for temper tantrums, digestive difficulties or disorders, hyperactivity and attraction to sedatives or stimulants. A lack of personal power creates a perception that power can only be gained by acquiring or manipulating something/someone outside one's self.
Truth of the 3rd chakra: Honor Yourself.
Flower Essences address mental and emotional issues that are 'stagnant' in the bodyfield. Administering essences orally, topically or by shifting them into the 'field' can help to alleviate mental and emotional blocks that one may not even be aware of. There are a variety of flower essence products.
Locally grown and produced "Xhosa Flower Essences" (samples provided for personal testing following this class) are available for purchase. Purchases may include Set 1, Set 2 and/or Situational Assistance. Essences will be available for purchase on 3/10 and 4/14.
Please contact me directly if you are interested and cannot attend these classes.
Thanks for participating in this session!
