Notes

The three upper chakras in the physical body are chakras of thought.
When they are balanced, one awakens to one's Divine self.
If you can choose it, you can open to the realms of perception
that will allow you to change your thoughts and your reality.

The 5th chakra is represented by the element of sound.  Its name is "Visshuda" which means purification.  This chakra is located in the throat.  The development of the chakra occurs approximately between 7-12 years of age.  At the beginning of this development the energetic umbilicus is weakening and separation from the mother's energy is firmly established.
Truth is tantamount to the healthy development of the 5th chakra.  If the lower chakras are in good order - living in the truth of the body and feelings with ego strength and love, you can safely express your truth even in the face of adversity.

The development of this chakra coincides with Erik Erikson's 'Industry vs. Inferiority' (and Piaget's concrete operations/symbolic thought) when children begin to desire recognition by producing things.  Since events impact you through vibration, the healthy development of this chakra reflects your state of resonance (a statement of your health/vitality).  When your expression is restricted, you lose synchronization (resonance) - feeling less alive, out of step, and a sense of dissonance within your environment.  This is stored in your body as stress.
You may throw your head (thus your back) out of alignment with your body, talk incessantly about anything but what really matters, or stuff food (as though filling the chakra will keep your true feelings from pouring out).  Self-reflect.

Truth of the 5th chakra:  "Surrender personal will to Divine will."

Healing mantra:
"I am aware at all times of the loving guidance directing my thoughts and speech,
leading me to all I ever need."

The 6th chakra is represented by the element of light.  Its name is "Ajna" which means to perceive and command.  This chakra is located at the brow (between the eyes, often called the 'third eye') and develops during adolescence.  The focus of this chakra is intuitive development through symbolic recognition (archetypal patterns).  This demands your ability to see simultaneously into past, present and future events (Chronos, Kairos, and Cosmic).  The demon of the 6th chakra is illusions since they pull you out of present time, tie up energy (leaking it into the past or the future) and lure you to falsifications.

This period of development is Piaget's 'formal operations' and Erikson's "Identity vs. Role Confusion".  Your ability to see life symbolically (to not take it personally) will guide the healthy development of this chakra.  Opening your 'third eye' allows you to see the bigger picture, transcend the ego and find deeper meaning in all things.
Abuses to any of the other chakras will affect the opening (or not) of the 6th chakra since this is where you store your library of experiences and related images.  You must have a stable base within the lower chakras (a good 'ground') to effectively open this chakra.

Truth of the 6th chakra:  "Seek only the truth."

Healing mantra:
"I am receptive to vision, direction, inspiration and insight
from my higher self always."

The 7th chakra is represented by the element of thought.  Its name is "Sahasrara" which means thousandfold.  This reflects the lotus that drips the nectar of Divine love down upon each human.  The 7th chakra is located at the cerebral cortex (top of the head) and develops in early adulthood, continuing throughout one's lifehood.  This is where you merge with Divine Consciousnes and realize your true nature.  You must eliminate fear, guilt, grief, lies, illusions and attachments to have a fully balanced crown chakra.

The 7th chakra develops from early adulthood (and on to transition) and includes the last of Erikson's stages - Intimacy vs. Isolation, Generativity vs. Stagnation, and Integrity vs. Despair.
You are a Divine child seeking your way back home.
This mystery can only be experienced, not explained.  To arrive at the fully blooming lotus of the crown chakra, your self needs to be connected all the way to Mother Earth.  To avoid getting lost on this journey, you must have a home base.  Only then can you liberate your spirit!

Truth of the 7th chakra:  "Live in the present moment."

Healing mantra:
"I am loving, kind and open to service for all humankind.
I remember who I am - a spiritual child of the universe."

Invoke this prayer each morning - and each evening.

Reflect at least one time every day..."Where am I other than here?"
