Integrating an Energy Medicine Routine into Your Day
“When energies are humming, an exquisite, pulsating, captivating scene is laid out,
as if ribbons of energy are moving up and down the body,
weaving intricate patterns.
Like an endless waterfall, energies spill up and over the top of the head
and a field of energy surrounds and caresses the body.”
~ Donna Eden, Energy Medicine
A new day…You awaken, put on the water for tea or coffee, jump into the shower and dress for the day – whether work or play. Perhaps, somewhere in the midst of this morning routine you journal, do yoga, or meditate/pray. Late afternoons or after work hours may be time for catching up with friends, going to the gym, or chauffeuring children to extracurricular activities. Then, the evening hours… You may have dinner plans or other social engagements, tend to children’s baths followed by bedtime stories, or relax in your own favorite way….all in preparation for the next day. If you are like most, there are certain routines or habits that define your mornings and your evenings – perhaps even your afternoons. This habitual scheduling, combined with work, makes for a very full load – one that often leaves any one of us with little energy to even think about adding another responsibility.
But, just for a moment, ask yourself –
Does my energy “flow like an endless waterfall and caress my body”?
It is far more likely that you often feel a bit more like a motor that may be running out of gas – with fits and spurts that keep you painfully chugging toward the end of each day. Often it may seem that the day is lasting longer than twenty-four hours – or that you need more time to accomplish all that is scheduled or expected.
‘An energy routine’, you may be thinking. ‘Are you kidding me? One more responsibility will put me right over the edge’!
But, what if you could add a five minute routine, each day, that would enhance your health? What if you could change the vibration – or energy - in your body to change the state of your health? What if you could improve your immune system, calm your stress, and increase your stamina in just five minutes each day?!
Just for a minute, remove this old belief system of traditional allopathic medicine.
I am healthy until I feel badly or am diagnosed by a physician with a disease or illness during a routine examination.
Now, embrace these basic principles of the human body through an ‘energetic’ lens.
I am an electromagnetic being living within a field of energy. Everything I want to know is within me. When my field is clear and energy is moving, I feel balanced and in good health. Dis-comfort or dis-ease is simply an alert that energy is not moving in or around my body in optimal ways.
If any of your technical, electrical supports – television, computer – are not functioning, you assume that they need some tweaking. Perhaps the signal or system is weak, scrambled, or unavailable. The same thing can happen to your body. You are blinking out codes to the universe every day. Any one in your home or your office can ‘read’ the signals that you are sending out. You may appear joyous, angry, frustrated, interested, bored, or out of patience! Even children can ‘read’ your code.
The basic tenet of energy medicine is this: When you feel fabulous, your energy is running in healthy patterns and directions. When you feel out of sorts, it is not! The more coherent the patterns, the more efficient the nervous, hormonal, and immune systems are. Your body is your greatest feedback system.
Donna Eden, energy medicine guru, has developed a five-minute routine to help build positive habits into your energy field. It is simple, cumulative, and very potent. It can be done by anyone from toddler to elder. It has been used effectively for more than twenty years and was even referenced in the appendix of a recent publication, Genie in Your Genes by Dawson Church. With great respect and appreciation to Donna for sharing her knowledge and expertise with the world, below are the instructions for the first part of this daily routine. (If you are a visual or auditory learner, you may wish to purchase the DVDs and step by step cards in her Energy Medicine Kit at http://www.innersource.net/energy_medicine/energy_medicine_kit.htm.)
The Three Thumps:
Using your own fingers (on your own body) you will be tapping for about 30 seconds at each location, sending electrochemical signals to your brain to release neurotransmitters. (Do not be overly concerned about finding the exact points as energy follows your intention.)
#1 – Thump the K-27 Points
The K-27s are the last acupuncture points on the kidney meridian (a system within your body that carries your energy in much the same way that veins and arteries carry your blood). They are juncture points that can affect all of your energy pathways and keep them flowing in the right direction. They are located in the depression just below the inside ends of both collarbones. Using the fingers of both hands, cross one over the other (so your right hand is tapping on the left side of your body) and tap (or massage) firmly while breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth. This will energize and focus you, especially if you are feeling drowsy.
#2 – Thump the Thymus Gland
The thymus gland is located just beneath the breastbone in the center of your chest. It is the surveillance system for your immune system. After tapping K-27s, move your fingers down a couple of inches onto your sternum and tap firmly with your four fingers while breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth. This will stimulate all of your energies, boost your immune system, and increase your vitality.
#3 – Thump Your Spleen Points
Located on your body are a number of points known as “neurolymphatics”. (They are part of the lymph system and increase lymph flow and electromagnetic function in your body.) You are going to tap the spleen neurolymphatic points. Move your fingers down from your thymus, out to your nipples, and straight down to beneath your breasts. Then, drop down one rib. Tap firmly, breathing deeply in through your nose and out through your mouth. This will lift your energy level, balance your blood chemistry, and strengthen your immune system.
You will, if you begin tapping daily, begin to recognize the effects of this simple routine. You can do it upon awakening, during your lunch, at a mid-afternoon break, or at the end of the work day. It is meant to be energizing however – so I recommend that you do not try implementing this before crawling into bed!
Happy August and happy tapping!
